I think that if Siri and Alexa were humans, they would be twin sisters. They are both slightly hearing impaired as evidenced by the number of strange word substitutions they make. Siri and Alexa have amazing manners, but tend to give way too much information when asked simple questions. Their voices are crystal clear and they never lose their patience no matter how many odd questions they receive.
In reality, the man who created the operating system on our phones named it Siri, which means “beautiful woman who leads you to victory” in Norwegian. How beautiful can a datamaskin (computer in Norwegian) be?
Jeff Bezos suggested that Amazon name the operating system on their Echo product, Alexa, after the library of Alexandria in Egypt which was one of the largest centers of knowledge and learning in ancient times.
If you put together the attributes associated with the names, Siri and Alexa, you have beauty, success and knowledge.
Not a bad gene pool for artificial intelligence.
