Last weekend, we attended a concert in a local park with some friends. The cover group who performed is named after one of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons’ huge hits. Many of you know the song by two different titles, “Oh, What a Night” and “September 1973.”
We were lucky to have a large empty area behind us. About halfway through the concert, one of my friends decided to become, as she called herself, a ”backup dancer.” The music was so engaging that it did not take long for me to join her. Being as I have no sense of direction (they went right, I went left), you can easily visualize what that looked like. Hopefully my overwhelming enthusiasm made up for the lack of coordination. I am guessing that the people watching behind me were thinking, “oh, what a night”, but probably not in a good way.
In 1973 at the age of 21, I would not have tried to publicly imitate a backup dancer for the Four Seasons or any other musical group, but this is 2022 so anything goes.
