When I began this blog six months ago, I defined myself as an almost 70-year-old woman. As of midnight tonight, the word “almost” will no longer be accurate.
I have been giving this aging thing a lot of thought. Some people believe that age is just a number, while others start exploring retirement “villages” before their 50th birthdays. One of my father’s favorite phrases was “the golden years are not so golden”, which was indicative of his attitude towards aging.
Most of us are aware of the connection between our minds and bodies. In the book, “Breaking the Age Code”, Becca Levy further demonstrates that our beliefs about aging determine how well and how long we live.
To quote Satchel Paige, “Age is a case of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it don’t matter.”
