I own an iPhone but do not use the online calendar feature. It is not that I do not appreciate technology – it is just that I am used to recording events on the pretty paper calendar that sits on my desk.
The main disadvantage of my desk calendar is that when I am not home and someone asks me to commit to a future date, I have no clue regarding my availability. The good news is that I am an avid texter and once I can see my calendar, plans can be confirmed with multiple emojis. At least my response is amusing, if not timely.
Another disadvantage is that I have a tendency to record events with brightly colored markers – even dental appointments look like a good thing. However, if information needs to be changed, I have to find the white-out tape dispenser which usually resides in my very crowded supply drawer. In keeping with my lack of directionality, I often hold the little plastic device upside down, which of course does nothing but cause a thin white line of twisted tape.
Now that I have convinced myself that it is time to reevaluate the benefit of using an online calendar, I will tackle a more pressing issue – remembering where I left my phone.
It is a process.
