EVERYBODY HAS A STORY

I believe that every person has a story to tell. It doesn’t matter who they are, whether they are young or old, their ethnicity, or their lifestyle preferences. Not everyone wants to tell their story, but I have found that many people are eager to share something about their lives when given the opportunity.

Most of us know a great deal about the people in our families and about our friends. In an attempt to show kindness and interest in others, I have been able to hear many stories. The young waitress who has the dream of starting a coffee cart, the manicurist who was a chemical engineer in Vietnam but cannot resume her career due to the language barrier, and the musician who wrote a beautiful song for his wife who died from cancer before he could finish it.

I try to remember that everyone I meet is fighting a battle I know nothing about. This does not excuse a person’s behavior, but it does give me perspective.

Everybody has a story.
