Let me start this post by stating that I have never had a strong interest in home remodeling projects. My forte is spending hours organizing the contents of cabinets and drawers, but the closest experience I have had with sanding and painting is getting my nails done.
Last month, with the help of a handyman and IKEA, I completed my first home improvement project, which involved a small laundry room. This was definitely in my skill set, which means that I virtually needed to made very few decisions and wrote a lot of checks. The wonderful byproduct of this three-day project was that I was able to stay upstairs and binge-watch episodes of The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning. For those of you who think I am making up that title, it is a real show on Peacock where the hosts are Swedish, nobody on the show dies, and there is an unbelievable amount of cleaning taking place.
I have now discovered that the problem with renovating one room in a home is that the condition of the other rooms become more noticeable, and not in a good way. In light of this, my next project will be the kitchen which is in need of new countertops, a sink, new cabinets, and new drawers. After that, the bathrooms will also need some work.
My life is starting to look like If You Give A Mouse A Cookie AKA If You Give A Woman A Challenge.
