LET THE GAMES BEGIN

We recently decided to buy some board games for our four-year-old grandchild’s birthday, since I recently learned about a new category of games available for young children called cooperative games.

Cooperative board games are games in which players work together to achieve a common goal instead of competing against each other. This helps them learn how to collaborate and compromise with others, recognize and respond to others’ feelings, share, show affection, resolve conflicts, and adhere to the rules.

I ended up buying several age-appropriate cooperative games and added an old favorite, Hungry, Hungry Hippos. There is something about helping your hippo grab a mouthful of marbles that gets me every time.

We just had a conversation with the birthday boy who requested that we make a plan to come over to his house.

Let the games begin.
