HANGING UP MY HARD HAT

I am finally on my last kitchen remodeling project. I was counting on purchasing a new microwave and having it installed being a quick and easy thing to do. My experience dealing with anything related to construction is extremely limited, which means that I can replace a toilet seat.

The reason for purchasing a new microwave was unfortunate – the cord accidentally fell behind the toaster oven and a safety hazard was created when it melted. What I did not know was that the destroyed cord was not actually from the microwave, but was in fact an extension cord that was connected to the appliance.

Apparently, the cabinet above the microwave did not have a designated outlet, which resulted in the addition of an extension cord fifteen years ago. I was unaware of this and assumed that the microwave needed to be replaced due to its damaged cord.

Basically, I installed a new microwave that I didn’t need. So now I have to hire an electrician to install a new outlet above it, since using an extension cord is not recommended by the internet – or anyone who knows anything about electricity beyond how to pay their DWP bill.

This really needs to be my last home improvement project.
