For those of you who are finding that you cannot locate your cell phone in your home, I literally hear you. What used to be an occasional problem is occurring on a regular basis. My solution is definitely not cost effective, but it is useful. I just call myself on a landline that I maintain as my “emergency” phone. So basically I need a phone for my phone. The benefit of the landline is that even when my phone is MIA, I can still communicate with other people until I complete my search and rescue operation.
There are times, however, when even this plan fails. I have left my phone in the car charger where it sits happily chirping while I frantically empty my purse four times, check every room in the house, and try not to believe that I have actually lost my ability to text, take photos, and read the hundreds of emails I receive each day. The truth is that I never read most of the emails I get each day, so losing that ability might not be so bad.
In my defense, when I lived in a smaller home, I rarely lost my phone because there simply was not as much space. Less space means greater odds that you can find your missing device – evidence that once again supports my belief that less is more. Does anyone ever claim that they moved into a smaller home because it is easier to find their cell phone? Among the many benefits of downsizing, this really should be on the list.
For those of you who call me, if I do not answer, you will know why.
Just call me.
