A LIFETIME GOAL

I generally find a concept to write about each week. In the event that no topic comes to mind, I occasionally make the decision to review the suggestions made by my publishing platform. When that happens, I always hope that my iPad can used for something besides downloading another dessert recipe which uses only three ingredients.

Today’s prompt was “What was the hardest personal goal you’ve set for yourself?”. At first, my reaction was excitement, since I finally found a question that I could answer in under one minute. In reality, my answer has actually been a lifetime goal – to stop constantly worrying about what may happen in the next five minutes, as well as what may happen in the next twenty years. It is kind of like having a neurotic hobby.

The problem with having a goal is that you have to figure out how to reach your goal, which means that you have to come up with a plan. Basically, you have to find ways to avoid anticipating every future event. I am now getting overwhelmed just reading that sentence.

I think that I may have to forget about reading suggested prompts and be satisfied to write about the ordinary events that occur in my life. This means that I postpone worrying about the effect of raising my already elevated cholesterol level once I finish making a recipe for three-ingredient peanut butter cookies that I just found.

Just for the record, mixing peanut butter, sugar, and an egg together and ending up with delicious cookies is not an ordinary event to me – I prefer to call it culinary magic.

It’s a start.
