DOG WALKER

Typically, the definition of a walker is someone who walks, especially for exercise or enjoyment. In our home the word walker refers to the medical device which enables my husband to move freely in our home while giving him the means to regain his endurance following surgery.

Our dog, Bella, did not adjust well to the shiny silver intruder. She displayed significant angst by barking furiously and attempting to bite the rubber wheels. It took about a week and and the contents of a large bag of dog treats to convince her that the new walker was not actually a cleverly disguised weapon.

Last week I noticed that a small parade was taking place in our family room. A man with a walker, followed by his caregiver, followed by a small brown dog had formed a line and were doing laps around the room. After a short time, the dog got tired of walking and “requested” that she be picked up. Thus began the term Human Uber.

This definitely gives new meaning to the term dog walker.
