There are a few facts you need to know before reading this post. First, this post has nothing to do with Goldilocks. Second, it really is about three jumpsuits. And finally, only one of the jumpsuits is mine.
Several months ago, my two friends and I started a discussion about what to wear to a semi-formal event that we would all be attending. Friend One loves to wear dresses and enjoys formal gatherings. Friend Two dislikes dressing up. And I avoid semi-formal clothes whenever humanly possible, as evidenced by the fact that I wore a white jumpsuit to my own wedding.
Most women dress for a formal event with the hope that no other woman attending will be wearing the exact same or an incredibly similar outfit. After listening to us protest (actually complain and whine would be more accurate) about the need to “dress up” , our third friend decided to join us. The decision was made to all wear virtually identical black jumpsuits, not in rebellion, but as a humorous visual statement. The only issue we had was that each of our jumpsuits had a zipper down the back, making bathroom trips impossible without assistance. A buddy bathroom plan was quickly formulated.
As it turned out, due to the rising number of Covid cases, two of us became uncomfortable with more than our shoes, and after an hour when the party moved inside, we left the event. I have no idea if anyone who was standing near us outside noticed that we looked like middle aged triplets, but for the first time I thoroughly enjoyed dressing for a semi-formal event. I wonder what we will wear next year…
