HUMMINGBIRD DON’T FLY AWAY

Hummingbirds are often associated with hope, good luck, and joy. In reality, they are fascinating little creatures who delight us with their agility and speed.

Last week, we decided that having a hummingbird feeder would be interesting. Prior to investing time and money, I did some research and learned that “hummers” can remember the locations of thousands of flowers and can travel up to 500 miles at one time. They can recognize and remember people. Apparently, hummers will let you know if they are angry when their food is gone, or if their container needs to be cleaned. In other words, they are tiny birds who have temper tantrums.

It didn’t take long for our Amazon order to arrive, and we quickly positioned the stand and feeder near our large kitchen window. Within one hour, a tiny hummingbird discovered this new addition to our yard. Several hours later, another one began drinking from the new feeder.

It looks like we are now the owners of a fly-through restaurant for hummingbirds.
