GUILT

They say that guilt is a useless emotion, and yet most of us experience this uncomfortable feeling throughout our lives. Sometimes our minds create guilt, and other times the people around us instill it through their actions or words. Even those individuals who can brush off emotions more easily find themselves feeling like they have done something wrong or have not done enough.

Last week, I encountered an unusual source of guilt – technology. My schedule was unusually hectic and I was not home much during the past few days. As you know, I am a dog owner and as result our home has a Furbo, which is a doggie camera. It sends us text messages when our dog barks, cries, sounds sick, or zooms. The message I received yesterday was for none of these actions. It stated that our dog missed me and that I should take a selfie with her. Apparently, I had not been appearing in the recorded videos lately.

I now have a new source of guilt. Thank you, Furbo.
