A LOSING BATTLE

Even though my hairdresser does a great job of covering every strand of my now gray hair once a month, it is an ongoing job to keep them from showing. I am sure that many of you can identify with this annoying problem.

The timeline is always the same. During week one, all the gray hairs hide undercover. Sometime during week two, small, rebellious hairs start to sneak through enemy lines near my temples. By week three, many renegade strands join together to inhabit the entire border of hair surrounding my face. Week four is the end result of a losing battle, and when I bend down, a significant white stripe is highly visible, making me resemble a middle aged skunk.

I have occasionally considered ending this entire process and letting my gray hair live in peace. However, with my light complexion, (pale and monotone), I would probably resemble Casper the ghost.

It is just a matter of time before I wave the white (make that gray) flag, but until then I will look in the mirror and keep singing “You’re So Vain.”
