THIS IS NOT A TYPICAL POST

This is not my usual post -hopefully I will be able to write about less serious life events later. A few weeks ago, my husband had a significant stroke. In evidence of my lifelong belief that timing in life is everything, I decided to go upstairs for no specific reason and found him shortly after the stoke hit.

The details of what followed are not really important at this point – the focus is on the uncertainty of his recovery. The day after he was admitted to the ICU, he apparently did not enjoy the attempts of the nursing staff to shift his position and being as he has no verbal ability, he used his middle finger on his working hand to convey his displeasure. Under ordinary circumstances, this would not have been something I would expect from him, but then again, he has always been a resourceful man. Luckily, the staff took his action in stride.

Needless to say, I feel like a human richter scale. Minor achievements cause hope and setbacks are devastating. The quality of his life is undetermined at this point since it has only been a few weeks and the outcome will not be apparent for months.

Please note that I do not anticipate posting in the near future- hopefully when I do, it will be on happier topics.

Life is for the living.
